Based at the nation’s #1 research hospital, the McCance Center offers all the opportunity to become partners in our research mission – identifying the strategies to prevent brain disease and promote brain health across the lifespan. The McCance Center, along with our collaborators from around the world, conducts innovative research with the ultimate goals of:

  1. Identifying accurate indicators so we can provide individuals with reliable measures of the health of their brain
  2. Developing new interventions and treatments to prevent brain disease from ever striking
  3. Understanding the role of genetics and risk factors in the development of brain disease

Our research program is centered around 5 themes:

  1. Developing new biomarkers of brain health
  2. High impact lifestyle interventions to improve brain health
  3. Developing pharmacologic interventions to prevent brain disease
  4. Leveraging genetic variation to prevent brain disease and preserve brain function
  5. Resistance to brain disease
